Support Services And Resources
Have you been diagnosed with prostate cancer? You are not alone. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, (CDC), “aside from non-melanoma skin cancer, prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men in the United States. It is also one of the leading causes of cancer death among men of all races.”
Prostate cancer is a serious disease but, with early diagnosis and today’s advanced treatments, most men diagnosed with prostate cancer do not die from it and can lead a healthy, active life. You owe it to yourself and your loved ones to not only get the facts from your doctors about the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer, but to also seek out any emotional support you may need.
Joining a support group for prostate cancer is a good source for information, but is also an excellent forum to share your thoughts, feelings and concerns. You can join with other men who have been diagnosed and/or treated to hear about their experiences in a supportive environment.
Western States HIFU is pleased to be associated with Los Alamitos Medical Center Prostate Cancer Support Group. In fact, Dr. Robert Pugach was instrumental in the establishment of this group. He understands the need to provide factual information and emotional support in a safe setting.
Dr. Pugach encourages all men who may be concerned about prostate cancer, those newly diagnosed with prostate cancer and men who have been treated, to attend the monthly support group meetings
